Karachi: Police on Sunday claimed to have arrested over half a dozen suspected terrorists during raids in different parts of the metropolis.
“Police have seized huge cache of arms and ammunition and also motorcycles from the possession of the suspects,” Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Fayyaz Ahmed Leghari told a press conference on Sunday.
“A list carrying names from rival group has also found from their possession,’ he said.
The CCPO said that the suspects had arrived in Karachi to achieve their targets after getting training from Parachinar, adding they had confessed their involvement in sectarian killings during investigation.
Sources said that all the arrested suspects were captured some days ago while the police announced their arrest on Sunday, following announcement of head-money for their arrest by the Sindh government.
They said that alleged mastermind of Ashura blast Shakeeb Farooqi was also arrested but his detention has not been announced, adding that the arrest of Shakeeb Farooqi was likely to be made public in a press conference.
