ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan said on Saturday that the recent release of non-combatant Taliban prisoners was done with the approval of armed forces of the state.
He clarified that the government had only released non-combatant people linked to the Taliban and termed freeing the combatants completely out of the question.
Addressing a press conference here , the federal minister dispelled the impression that the peace dialogue between the government and Taliban militants had reached a ‘deadlock’ adding that Nisar said the government and army were jointly taking the dialogue process forward and warned that internal and external forces were present to sabotage the peace talks.
About the Islamabad Sabzi Mandi blast, he showed concern over the nearby slum where he claimed that thousands of foreigners are living.
Nisar questioned as to who had allowed the people to settle in the first place adding that registration of those settled in the slums around Islamabad was not the solution.
He repeated his earlier stance that outlawed Baloch militant organisations were not involved in the blast and the tracks of those responsible for the incident lead elsewhere.
The interior minister claimed with surety that the bomb was placed inside a crate of guavas which were brought to the federal capital from South Punjab via a bus.
