PESHAWAR: Pakistan’s provincial government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) looked firm over imposition of strict action by blocking NATO supply after last US drone strike in its tribal area.
The Chief Minister of KPK, Pervez Khattak, has announced blocking NATO supply to the military troops in Afghanistan on Sunday.
CM Pervez Khattak said that the supply line will not be resumed until the US government stops drone strike in the tribal areas of Pakistan.
Khattak added that the decision would be applicable after consultation with other political parties.
The decision came forward following the recent drone attack carried out in North Waziristan Agency (NWA) of KPK in which the banned outfit Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) chief Hakimullah Mehsud was killed.
It should be mentioned that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) administered KPK government earlier issued warning to US authorities for closure of NATO supply in case of any drone attack carried out in its tribal areas during the dialogue process with Taliban.
During the press meeting, Pervez Khattak also commented over the upcoming local bodies’ electoral process in Pakistan by saying that KPK government will provide Rs150 billion to municipal departments.
He said that the local bodies’ system imposed in other three provinces including Sindh, Punjab and Balochistan are deception with the locals.
Moreover, the top official also revealed that uniform educational system will be applied across the province in March.
Session the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa provincial cabinet will be convened tomorrow to review the aftermaths of Taliban leader’s killing in a US missile strike.
Government officials said the provincial cabinet meeting, presided over by Chief Minister Pervez Khattak, would review law and order situation besides looking into the aftermaths of Taliban leader’s death as insurgents have vowed to avenge Hakimullah Mehsud’s killing.
