Karachi: The jail sentence to the Pakistani trio is indeed the biggest jolt to the Pakistan sports and it’s fan, but the question remains that would it affect the upcoming generation of sports persons? To avoid the recurrence of such events, a host of measures should be taken by the apex body, International Cricket Council, its Anti Corruption and Security Unit and individual cricket boards.
On the other hand, the former Pakistan skipper, Rashid Latif has come up with a new concept of taking those players, involved in wrongdoings and brought bad name to the country at international level, to task and legal action should be taken against them at home as well.
“At the moment there is no such law exists in the country to launch a criminal investigation against sports persons for their on-the-field offences, but it should be done”, said Latif.
“In a bid to make it possible, I will soon consult legal experts and parliamentarians and urge them to initiate the due process”, added Latif
Meanwhile, Iqbal Muhammad Ali, member of the National Assembly, said that there is a due process of legislation in the country for which a bill needs to be tabled in the assembly.
”It’s a matter of public concern for which a draft resolution could be tabled in the assembly to make it a law after the due process”, said Iqbal Muhammad Ali.
