Chester-le-Street: The first one-day international between England and India ended without any result as rains halted the play. England had made 27 for 2 in reply to India’s 274, which included 95 by Parthiv Patel, 40 by debutant Rahane, 55 by Virat Kohli, 38 by Suresh Raina and 33 by MS Dhoni. India were scoring quite slowly until Raina and Dhoni came to bat.
Bresnan and Broad claimed two wickets apiece, while Anderson, Dernbach and Patel got one each.
Praveen Kumar got two early wickets to give India hope of winning their first game against England during the current tour, but rains washed away their hopes.
