Islamabad: The Supreme Court of Pakistan on Tuesday remarked several questions have emerged during the hearing of the presidential reference for revisiting the death sentence handed down to Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) founder and former prime minister Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto.
An eleven-member bench of the SC headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry was hearing the case.
The CJ asked federation’s lawyer Babar Awan that he had been unable to produce any evidence regarding the case to make headway. “Your case revolves around prejudice of judges and you have not provided any evidence yet” the CJ told Babar Awan.
The CJ said evidences are observed by a trial court, adding that the SC could refer the case to a trial court after it was satisfied by the counsel. The hearing was adjourned till Wednesday.
