ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan’s upper house standing committee on communication on Friday expressed displeasure on non-implementation of its recommendations by the Ministry of Communication and Pakistan Post.
The committee which met under the chair of Senator Muhammad Daud Khan Achakzai here also expressed its dissatisfaction on submission of incomplete report regarding the Pakistan Post’s own property and implementation of body’s directives.
The committee directed the officials of Ministry of Communication and Pakistan Post to prepare the detail report comprising the rent, conditions, location etc of its buildings and land and security plan to carry the agreement of Software Application of Centralized Software Solution for Financial Services.
The Chairman asked the officials to provide complete report in next ten days in this regard otherwise action would be taken against the officials according to the rules.
Giving reference of Karachi building of Pakistan Post where only Rs. 4 thousand were being received per month as rent by the department, the committee noted that it was collecting very low rent against its buildings in various cities.
It also observed that the Pakistan Post do not have any plan to take over the project of Central Software Solution for Financial Services due to lack of its own IT Human Resource
The official apprised the committee that according to the project about four out of the seven modules i.e. EMO, utility bills collection, BISP and CSP has been extended to all the 83 GPOs whereas the rollout plan in respect of the rest of three i.e PMP, Savings Bank and PT has been issued for implementation up to December 2014.
The official said that Pakistan Post was collecting annually Rs. 62.31 million rent against its 20 buildings in different cities of the country including Karachi, Lahore, Multan, Rawalpindi, AJK and Islamabad.
They said that the department had 3315 residential while 825 official building/residence across the country. It had about 76 vacant plots, they added.
The body said that submitted report by the officials of Pakistan Post was incomplete and directed the ministry to come with a detailed report.
The meeting was attended by the senators, Zahid Khan, Kamil Ali Agha, Mukhtiar Ahmed Dhamrah, Muhammad Hamayun Khan Mandokhel, Muhammad Mohsin Khan Leghari, Sardar Muhammad Yaqoob Khan Nasir and Minister of State for Cabinet Secretariat and Parliamentary Affairs Sheikh Aftab Ahmed.
The officials of Ministry of Communication and Pakistan Post were also present on the occasion.
