MIRPUR: Former Pakistani pacer Shoaib Akhtar said that Pakistani batsman do not know how to play down the ground and tackle pressure situation.
Discussing the Pakistan’s defeat in a crucial match today against West Indies, the one time world’s fastest bowler said that Pakistani batsman lack technique to play down the ground and rotate the strike.
“Either they will go for hits or will lose their wicket” he said angrily.
Akhtar said he predicted Pakistan’s defeat after West Indies total surged to 166, thanks to Dwayne Brave and Darren Sammy.
He also took Pakistani opener Ahmed Shehzad to task for not even watching the ball properly and losing his wicket cheaply.
Ahmed Shehzad was out first ball (LBW) on a Santokie Yorker.
Speaking about the bowlers, Akhtar lamented that Pakistan’s star spinner Saeed Ajmal could not even bare a six from any batsman and lose his heart quickly, same happened today when he was hit by Sammy and Bravo.
West Indian batsman Darren Sammy and Dwayne Bravo added 71 runs in 5.2 overs against Pakistan today.
While Pakistani batting line did everything to send the team back home as both the openers left for duck, while none scored more than 19 runs chasing 166 runs by West Indies in a semis decider match of ICC World T20.
There were a total of 4 stumps in Pakistan’s innings.
Shoaib Akhtar spoke on a sports channel he is working for as a commentator and analyst during ICC Twenty20 World Cup.
