Warface, Crytek’s free-to-play online shooter, has reached the milestone of 25 million registered users.
The fragfest launched in April 2012 in Russia, followed by European and North American expansions in 2013. The big play comes later this year when the game enters open beta in China, followed by Japan and Taiwan.
Crytek CEO Cevat Yerli voiced his appreciation on Twitter this morning: “Thanks to our fans and teams for your support and dedication!”
The game entered open beta on Xbox 360 last week.
ABOUT THE GAME
The online shooter game features 4 different classes: rifleman, sniper, medic and engineer.
Each class has its own unique types of primary weapons (e.g. assault rifles) and “specials” (except for the sniper class), and are each uniquely suited for different roles.
The rifleman acts as the main firepower, and also has ammo boxes which can be used to resupply ammunition for his/her teammates or himself/herself.
Sniper class users can hit more far range targets. Medics can only shoot short distances as they are equipped with a shotgun as their primary weapon, but they are essential to everyone in the cooperative modes – as they can heal themselves and others, and also revive others by defibrillation.
The engineer class can set up proximity mines and claymores and have SMGS – and are therefore suited towards close-range combat. They can also repair armour, their own or others.
Medics can only shoot short distances as they are equipped with a shotgun as their primary weapon, but they are essential to everyone in the cooperative modes – as they can heal themselves and others, and also revive others by defibrillation.
