PESHAWAR: A suicide attack has been carried out on Monday evening near Iranian consulate, killing two Frontier Corps (FC) personnel and injuring nine others, in Peshawar.
The attack was carried out in University town of Peshawar, capital of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) on FC check post near Iranian consulate.
According to police, it was a suicide attack. Rescue teams reached on the spot after attack but traffic jam on University road created hurdle to perform rescue activities. Firing at the scene also have been heard.
Dead bodies and injured persons have been shifted to Khyber Teaching Hospital, where they are being provided by necessary treatment. A media report said three of the injured are in critical conditions.
Police has cordoned off the area.
Heavy contingents of law enforcement agencies have been deployed at the incident’s location while a search operation has been commenced .
Eye witnesses said it was strong explosion which heard far and wide. After suicide attack area engulfed with fear and panic.
