At least nine people, including a senior leader of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-S) and and three staff members of Express News, were shot dead in Karachi, the metropolitan city and the financial hub of the country.
Express News, which had been targeted by unknown men on two occasion last year, reported three of its employees – a driver, a guard and a technician – were gunned down in Nazimabad area of Karachi on Friday evening. “
Hours later Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) spokesperson Shahidullah Shahid while talking the television’s senior anchor person claimed the responsibility of the attack.
Prior to this, unidentified gunmen targeted a car on Shahrah-e-Faisal, killing the JUI-S Sindh chapter’s secretary general Mufti Usman Yar Khan  and two others.
“The three men were taken to hospital, where they breathed their last. A fourth passenger in the car was wounded,” SSP Aamir Farooqi said.
Three other persons were killed by target killers in different parts of the city, taking the death toll in shootings in Karachi to nine.
