Karachi: The Karachi Electric Supply Company (KESC) on Thursday said that it was facing gas shortage which could be resulted in more loadshedding in the metropolis.
According to a KESC spokesperson, the gas being supplied to it by the Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) fell from 150mmcfd to 80mmcfd on Wednesday evening. “This has adversely impacted the power generation of KESC’s gas turbines, which will lead to an unavoidable increase loadshedding to 7.5 hours in some residential and commercial areas,” the spokesman added.
The power utility warned that exemption from loadshedding for essential services such as hospitals, industries and water pumping stations could be affected if the gas supply did not improve immediately.
