KARACHI: A 10 million dollar notice has been issued to the New York Times journalist Declan Walsh on denouncement of founder of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM).
The former Islamabad bureau chief, Declan Walsh, editor, printer and publisher of The New York Times has been issued a defamation notice of $10 million. MQM views the publication as disruptive and the allegations on Altaf Hussain are ‘baseless’.
MQM’s counsel Barrister Farogh Naseem served notice to the journalist of NYT and it is demanded that an unconditional apology must be given within seven days. In case, the journalist fails to do so will lead to a legal action against him.
The Islamabad bureau chief of NYT was expelled at the eve of general elections 2013 on behalf of allegations of “undesirable activities” by the interim government.
