Islamabad: Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani on Sunday telephoned to Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) chief Nawaz Sharif and responded in affirmative his party’s 10-point agenda .
The prime minister showed his government’s willingness to impalement the PML-N 10-point agenda. He sought PML-N’s cooperation for implementing the agenda. A statement of Prime Minister House said that PML-N chief hailed the political acumen and vision of Prime Minister Gilani.
Sources said that during the telephonic conversation Nawaz Sharif assured Gilani of his party’s full support in implementation of the agenda. He said that a three-member committee of PML-N headed by Senator Ishaq Dar will be in touch with the government to help it in implementation of the agenda. they said that the prime minister also discussed the issue of appointment of new Governor Punjab.
It is to be mentioned here that the PML-N had presented a 10-point agenda to steer the country out of the prevailing crisis, and gave a deadline of three-day to the government to respond in Yes or No, whether it is ready to impalement it or not.
PML-N central leader Ahsan Iqbal confirmed that the prime minister telephoned Nawaz Sharif and said the government was ready to implement the agenda. He said that as the government showed his readiness to implement the agenda, now PML-N focus will be on its implementation.
The PML-N 10-p0int agenda contains immediate withdrawal of recently increased petroleum prices, which was met by the government, formulation of an effective mechanism to stop frequent hikes in electricity and gas tariffs, to reduce gas and electricity loadshedding durations gradually, immediate removal of corrupt ministers and officials from government departments, to control prices of daily-use items, full implementation of superior court decisions, re-organization of Election Commission of Pakistan, 30 percent cut on government expenditures, ensuring reasonable size of the federal cabinet, arrest of people involved in scandals like Hajj, Bank of Punjab and NICL, recovery of loans waived off on political grounds and to ensure Pakistan’s sovereignty and integrity.
