Islamabad: Ambassador of Indonesia in Pakistan, Burhan Mohammad has said International Islamic University, Islamabad (IIUI) is one of the unique centers of learning in the world and it is an honour for me to be the chief guest of its splendid cultural event. He said IIUI is playing a vital role to bring the courtiers of Ummah together and in this regard efforts of university administration and faculties are admirable.
This he said while inaugurating the 25th Annual Cultural Week and Silver Jubilee celebrations of International Islamic University, Islamabad (IIUI) on Tuesday.
Burhan Mohammad said there is dire need of vast educational ties between Muslim countries because survival of developing countries now relies upon education. He also assured all possible support from Indonesia to IIUI.
Ambassador of Sudan in Pakistan, Al-Shafey Ahmed Mohammed, Prof. Dr. Masoom Yasinzai, Rector IIUI, Dr. Ahmad Yousif Al-Draiweesh, President IIUI, Dr. Mumtaz Ahmed, Vice President (Academics) IIUI, Matloob Inqalabi, AJK Education Minister, Dr. Safeer Awan, Students Advisor (Male), diplomats and delegations from various countries were present on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion in his welcome remarks, Prof. Dr. Masoom Yasinzai said that IIUI is playing a key role in promotion of education with a unique vision among 130 universities of the country.
He said Muslim Ummah has a great power of youth and if we put them on right track according to our religious values and current needs then this power can change the world. He urged Muslim countries that education of youth should be their top priority.
He said top priority of IIUI is to develop balanced and harmonious personalities which may compete to the contemporary challenges. “Preparing high quality professionals integrated with teachings of Islam is core objective of our university” IIUI Rector said.
Dr. Masoom said IIUI keenly focuses to create an environment according to teachings of Islam and contemporary needs and this unique objective lets the institution to develop skilled, professional personalities who own appropriate knowledge of Islamic values as well.
He added that IIUI equally gives opportunities of learning and education to male and female students and particularly appreciates participation of the female students to give them proper chance for development of society.
He thanked Muslim countries for their active participation in the event and urged them to keep taking interest in IIUI.
Earlier, Prof. Dr. Ahmad Yousif Al-Draiweesh while addressing the inaugural ceremony of cultural week said that IIUI is a prestigious center of knowledge with an objective to strengthen youth with power of education. While briefing about the mega event,
Dr. Al Draiweesh said theme of this year’s cultural week is “Youth and National Leadership” and in this regard IIUI not only launched special activities in its campus but other universities of capital are also part of this mega event, where activities are continued.
He said mega event equally granting opportunity to female students to prove their abilities and talent in all aspects of life.
He said IIUI is devoted to promote peace and brotherhood and its doors are open for all. “Along with Islamic education, IIUI is giving education in all fields including math, social sciences, science subjects and computer technology”. Dr. Al Draiweesh said.
He stressed upon the students to refrain from violence and extremism. He said students should adopt the way of moderation as it leads to the right path, a path which is given by the Almighty. IIUI president said it is a positive sign by watching students of Muslim countries under one roof and together.
At the end of ceremony, shields were presented to the dignitaries of various countries.
The 25th Annual Cultural Week and Silver Jubilee celebrations of International Islamic University (IIUI) in female campus will start on Wednesday, March 27, 2013 at 11:00 am.
The students “Cultural Evening”, “Dress Show” in this connection will be held on March 28.
Prize distribution ceremony for female students will be held on March5 in which wife of Ambassador of Saudi Arabia in Pakistan Mrs. Jouhra Abdullah Al-Arifi shall be the chief guest on the occasion.
