According to reports, the meeting between Ahmed Farhad and his family took place at the Kahori police station outside Muzaffarabad. Ahmed Farhad’s brother, Syed Liaqat Shah, stated that they would pursue a legal battle to have the cases against Ahmed Farhad dismissed.
The Islamabad High Court (IHC) was informed earlier by Attorney General for Pakistan (AGP) Mansoor Usman Awan that Farhad had been arrested and was currently in police custody in AJK. This disclosure came during the hearing of a petition filed by Farhad’s wife, Urooj Zainab, on May 15, seeking her husband’s recovery.
The meeting came after the family’s complaints about a lack of cooperation from AJK police in disclosing Farhad’s whereabouts. The poet, known for his defiant prose, was allegedly abducted from his house on May 14 from his house in Islamabad.
On May 29, a case was filed against him for allegedly meddling in the government’s affairs in Azad Jammu and Kashmir. The poet’s wife petitioned the Islamabad High Court regarding his disappearance.
