Houston: Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) Leader and advisor to Chief Minister Sindh for sports Dr Mohammad Ali Shah has passed away in Houston, a city of United States at the age of 66.
Dr. Shah was born on October 26, 1946 in Bareilly, India. His father, Syed Asghar Ali Shah, also served as a judge for many years.
The expert surgeon was suffering from blood cancer and was getting medical treatment at a private hospital in Houston.
He was a provincial assembly member from PS 103, Karachi but later in 2012 resigned due to his dual nationality.
He is also known for his passion for cricket and runs Asghar Ali Shah Cricket Stadium in North Nazimabad, Karachi. The stadium hosts Dr. Muhammad Ali Shah Night Twenty20 Cricket Tournament every year in the month of Ramadan.
Shah was awarded Pride of Performance in 1996, Tamgha-e-Imtiaz in 2003 and Sitara-i-Imtiaz in 2008.
