Islamabad: Pakistani Foreign Minister Hina Rabbani Khar said on Tuesday Islamabad would discuss the issue of CIA given free hand on drone strikes in the country with US Ambassador to Pakistan Richard Olson.
During a policy statement in the Senate, she said drone attacks were a violation of Pakistan’s territorial integrity.
Khar’s statement came following the United States finalising a rule book for drone strikes that does not apply on Pakistan, meaning the CIA is free to conduct direct drone strikes in the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (Fata).
Of statements of Indian representatives regarding LoC unrest, Khar said that Pakistan could not adopt the irresponsible behaviour shown by the Indian army chief and others.
“We have shown our commitment not to escalate any situation like this between India and Pakistan. We are committed to normalising relations.”
The foreign minister said that the option to conduct an investigation into LoC violations by a third party had already been presented.
