Gaza City: Amid intensified Israeli violence in Gaza, at least 37 Palestinians have been reported killed and dozens injured, as Israeli fighter jets targeted a UNRWA school in the Nuseirat refugee camp. The strike, aimed at a school sheltering displaced persons, has exacerbated the humanitarian crisis, with Al Aqsa Hospital now operating at three times its clinical capacity.
Government Media Office spokesman Ismail al-Thawabta confirmed the overwhelming situation at Al Aqsa Hospital, where the dead and wounded continue to arrive in large numbers following the strike on the school.
The casualty toll from Israel’s war on Gaza since October 7 now stands at over 36,586 killed and 83,074 wounded.
Concurrently, Israeli forces have intensified their presence in the occupied West Bank, conducting raids and arrests across various towns including Ya’bad, Arraba, Jalboun, Rantis, Kafr Ni’ma, and Marah Rabah, resulting in the detention of at least 23 Palestinians overnight.
Meanwhile, UN agencies have issued a dire warning that more than one million Palestinians in Gaza could face starvation by mid-next month if hostilities persist.
The international community is closely monitoring the situation as Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu underscores readiness for intensified operations along the Lebanon border amid ongoing skirmishes.
In a separate incident, a 39-year-old Israeli staff sergeant from Battalion 5030 of Alon Brigade was killed in northern Israel in a Hezbollah attack, with a reservist severely wounded, bringing the total number of Israeli soldiers killed in the since October to 645.
