Karachi to Observe Public Holiday on April 23 During Iranian President’s Visit

Karachi: The Karachi commissioner has declared April 23, Tuesday, as a public holiday across Karachi. This move is designed to minimize public inconvenience during the visit of Iranian President Dr. Ebrahim Raisi and his delegation.

The announcement for the public holiday came after the Foreign Office confirmed the trip of Iran’s President, scheduled from April 22 to April 24, which will include stops in Lahore and Karachi.

According to reports, the Commissioner of Karachi issued a notification declaring April 23 a public holiday, following which all private and government offices and educational institutions in the Karachi Division will remain closed.

 

According to the official notification released on Sunday by Syed Hassan Naqvi, the Karachi commissioner, “In view of the visit of Foreign Dignitaries and to avoid inconvenience to the general public, Tuesday, the 23rd April, 2024 is hereby declared as Public Holiday in Karachi Division. All the Government and private offices, educational institutions (public/private), shall remain closed except the essential services and officials involved in emergency duties.”

It is noted that the notification was issued by the Commissioner of Karachi Division in light of the visit of foreign dignitaries. Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi is scheduled to visit Pakistan and arrive in Karachi on April 23.
