Dhaka: The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has announced the appointment of former Pakistani leg-spinner and World Cup winner, Mushtaq Ahmed, as Bangladesh’s spin-bowling coach ahead of the ICC T20 World Cup 2024.
According to details, BCB released a release in which it stated that Mushtaq Ahmed would join the Bangladesh cricket team as the spin bowling coach ahead of the T20 series against Zimbabwe later this month. He will continue to work with the Bangladesh team until the conclusion of the ICC T20 World Cup 2024, to be held in the West Indies and USA.
Expressing his gratitude, Mushtaq Ahmed remarked that it’s an honor for him to be a part of the Bangladesh cricket team as a spin bowling coach. He emphasized his eagerness to share his experience with the players, noting their coachability and potential to emerge as a formidable force in international cricket.
Mushtaq Ahmed brings a wealth of experience to his new role, having previously served as the spin bowling coach for England, West Indies, and Pakistan. During his tenure with the England Cricket Board, England achieved significant success, including winning the T20 World Cup and multiple Ashes series.
Moreover, Ahmed has also worked with various franchises in the T20 circuit, including Karachi Kings, Delhi Daredevils, and Surrey, showcasing his expertise in the shortest format of the game.
