Martyrdom Day of Hazrat Ali (R.A) Being Observed Today with Devotion and Respect

Islamabad: Today, Muslims around the world are observing the martyrdom day of Hazrat Ali ibn Abi Talib (R.A), the fourth caliph of Islam with utmost devotion and respect across the country.

Today various gatherings will be held where speakers will shed light on the life and teachings of Hazrat Ali (R.A), while processions will be taken out across the country. In Islamabad and Rawalpindi, processions were taken out on Sunday night, which concluded at the pre-dawn time for Sehri on Monday.

In Islamabad, the main procession of Hazrat Ali (R.A) commenced from Imambargah Zainabiya last night, following its traditional routes to reach Imambargah Asna Ashri, marking the beginning of the solemn occasion.

Meanwhile, in Karachi, the Youm-e-Ali (R.A) procession is scheduled to start at 1 pm. Authorities have closed the routes of the procession by placing containers to ensure the smooth and secure passage of the procession. The main route of the procession will traverse through MA Jinnah Road, Regal Chowk, Preedy Street, and culminate at Hussainian Iranian Kharadar by 7 pm.

To facilitate the procession and maintain order, vehicular traffic will not be allowed on the designated route beyond Gurumandir Chowk during the procession hours. Traffic diversions have been arranged, with vehicles from Nazimabad redirected from Lasbela Chowk to Nishtar Road, and those from Liaquatabad diverted from Tin Hatti Chowk to Jail Road. Traffic from Stadium Road will be directed towards Nazimabad via New MA Jinnah Road, while vehicles from Pakistan Highway will be guided to Nazimabad through Liaquatabad No.10.

Additionally, recognizing the significance of Youm-e-Ali (R.A), the Sindh government has declared all educational institutions closed for the day in the province. A notification issued by the government mandates the closure of both public and private educational institutions to honor the occasion.

It is worth noting that Hazrat Ali (R.A) was severely wounded with a poison-coated sword in an attack by a Kharijite, Ibn Muljam, while offering Fajr prayers on 19th Ramadan, 40 AH (661 AD) in the city of Kufa, Iraq. He embraced martyrdom on the 21st of Ramadan, 40 AH.
