The Hague: An urgent request has been filed in the International Court of Justice by South Africa against the Israeli operation in Rafah.
According to international news agencies, the request filed in the International Court of Justice by South Africa urges the international court to exercise its authority to halt Israel’s operation in Rafah.
In a statement issued by the South African presidential office, it was stated that the Israeli military operation in Rafah would result in further casualties, damage, and destruction. The Israeli operation in Rafah would constitute a serious violation of the genocide convention and the January 26 decision of the International Court of Justice.
South Africa has requested the International Court to review the legality of the decision regarding Israel’s military operation in Rafah and to use its authority to prevent further violations of the rights of Palestinians in Gaza.
It is noteworthy that South Africa had previously approached the International Court of Justice (ICJ) against Israel’s genocide of Palestinians in Gaza. Despite orders from the International Court of Justice, telling Israel to prevent genocide, Israel has killed over 1,625 more Palestinians since January 26 and has continued to block humanitarian aid from being delivered to Gaza.
