Iran’s Attack on Pakistani Territory Kills 2 Children, Injures 3 Girls and Damages a Mosque

Islamabad: On Tuesday, Iran launched attacks on Pakistani territory, allegedly targeting what it called bases of the militant group Jaish al-Adl in the border town of Panjgur in Balochistan. Iran’s attack on Pakistan resulted in the tragic deaths of two children and injuries to three girls, prompting Pakistan to label the attack as a violation of its airspace and sovereignty. The incident has heightened diplomatic tensions between the two neighbours, with Pakistan summoning Tehran’s top diplomat in Islamabad to convey “strongest condemnation”.

Pakistan has condemned Iran for breaching its sovereignty through an air attack that claimed the lives of two innocent children and injured three girls. Pakistani security officials revealed that the Iranian strikes also damaged a mosque in Balochistan’s Panjgur district, situated about 50km (30 miles) inside the border.

Iran, as reported by its state media, targeted two bases of Jaish al-Adl in Pakistan, utilizing missiles and drones in the operation. While Tehran has not officially commented on the incident, Press TV, the English-language Iranian state television channel, attributed the attack to Iran’s paramilitary Revolutionary Guard.

Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry condemned the violation of its sovereignty, warning that it could have “serious consequences”.

It is even more concerning that this illegal act has taken place despite the existence of several channels of communication between Pakistan and Iran. Pakistan’s strong protest has already been lodged with the concerned senior official in the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Tehran. Additionally, the Iranian Charge d’affaires has been called to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to convey our strongest condemnation of this blatant violation of Pakistan’s sovereignty and that the responsibility for the consequences will lie squarely with Iran.”, said Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry.

As tensions rise, Pakistan has summoned Iran’s top diplomat in Islamabad to convey the “strongest condemnation”, signaling potential repercussions.

Iran’s attack on Pakistani territory follows recent missile attacks by Iran in northern Syria and Iraq, the latter prompting Iraq to condemn the attacks as a blatant violation of its sovereignty and recall its ambassador from Tehran.
