Washington: Dr. Aafia has been targeted for sexual assault at least twice in prison. According to the details disclosed by Aafia Siddiqui’s lawyer, Clive Stafford, the Pakistani government is aware of incidents of sexual assault on Dr. Aafia.
Speaking to local TV, Dr. Aafia’s lawyer Clive Stafford Smith stated that Dr. Aafia informed him about incidents of sexual assault, following which a complaint was filed. Clive Stafford Smith mentioned that Dr. Aafia was also targeted for sexual assault in Bagram Jail, where she was subjected to intrusive searches as part of the sexual assault allegations.
According to lawyer Clive Stafford Smith, Dr. Aafia faces daily incidents of assault and violence. Yesterday, Dr. Fowzia met her sister Dr. Aafia Siddiqui in the American prison.
After the meeting with Aafia Siddiqui, Dr. Fowzia Siddiqui released a video statement, expressing concern about Aafia Siddiqui’s deteriorating condition in jail. She stated that she feels Aafia Siddiqui’s condition is worse than before.
Dr. Fowzia Siddiqui mentioned in her video that she is deeply saddened at the end of the meeting and has once again helplessly left Aafia Siddiqui in the same condition.
Fowzia Siddiqui’s lawyer, Clive Stafford Smith, said that the two sisters were not even allowed to touch each other.
