IFAM Convention 2023: A Two-Day Extravaganza of Faith, Family Fun, and Spiritual Insights

Sydney: IFAM (Islamic Forum for Australian Muslims) is set to host one of the most significant family events of the year, the IFAM Convention 2023, on Saturday, September 30th, and Sunday, October 1st. This event promises two days filled with family fun, learning, socializing, delicious food, shopping, and a unique opportunity to engage directly with renowned Islamic scholars from around the world.

The program schedule for this two-day convention is packed with insightful talks and engaging sessions led by a distinguished lineup of speakers, including:

  • Abu Ammaar Yasir Qadhi: An American preacher, theologian, and chair of the Fiqh Council of North America. Yasir Qadhi holds expertise in Islamic theology and contemporary Muslim issues.
  • Rais Khan: A civil engineer and the current President of IFAM, Rais Khan has been an active member of the organization for over 15 years. He is dedicated to promoting the comprehensive message of Islam in Australia.
  • Sheikh Abdool Rahman: A graduate of the Islamic University in Madinah Munawwarah, specializing in Islamic Inheritance. He currently serves as the chairman of the Shari’ah Council of the Islamic Circle of North America.
  • Sheikh Muhammad Saad Nomani: A remarkable reciter of the Quran with a strong academic background in Islamic Studies.
  • Sheikh Shadi Alsuleiman: A prominent Imam, community leader, and preacher based in Sydney, Australia. He is the founder of the United Muslims of Australia (UMA) and currently serves as the President of the Australian National Imams Council (ANIC).
  • Sheikh Bilal Dannoun: A renowned Marriage Counselor & Islamic Consultant in Sydney, who will be delivering a lecture on “Relationships – challenges in finding a spouse and challenges in keeping a spouse.”
  • Sheikh Yahya Ibrahim: A specialist in Spirituality and the Qur’an, educated in Tafsir, Fiqh, and Hadith with scholars from Hijaz and Egypt.
  • Shabbir Ahmed: A prominent Islamic scholar dedicated to providing Islamic service, assistance, and guidance to the Muslim community. He is the president of the former Al-Tadhkeer Society and the founder of Masjid Qubaa.
  • Shaykhah Umm Jamaal ud-Din: An Australian revert to Islam with a deep understanding of Fiqh and Usul-al Fiqh. She has been a teacher of various Shariah sciences for almost 20 years and is an official member of the Australian National Imams Council (ANIC).
  • Ramia Abdo Sultan: A lawyer, community advocate, and Community Relations Advisor to the Australian National Imams Council (ANIC).
  • Br Waseem Rizvi: The Founder and President of the Islamic Research & Educational Academy (IREA) and an Electronics Engineer by profession. He is an exceptional presenter of Islam to non-Muslims in Australia.
  • Imam Adama Konda: A full-time Imam at Canberra Islamic Centre (CIC).
  • Anthony Mundine: An Australian former professional boxer and rugby league footballer who converted to Islam in 1999.
  • Sheikh Farhaan Khalil: The Imam and Chaplain at Australian International Academy, Kellyville.

Activities for attendees include combined family sessions, specialized sessions for sisters, youth, and kids, fun activities for children, shopping with a variety of vendors, and engaging talks by renowned local and international speakers. There will also be rides and activities tailored for kids.

    • Humble Voice: Respected Anthony Mundine, New Muslim
    • Sheikh Farhan Khalil on “How and Why are young people so unhappy?”
    • Dr. Mohsin Ansari (President ICNA) on “Joining Hands: Muslims in the West”
    • Dr. Haroon Kasim on “Alliance Against Islamophobia”
    • Quranic Recitation by Sheikh Saad Nomani
    • Future Leaders: Youth Speakers Presentation
  • Session Three: 6:30 PM – 9:30 PM
    • Respected Javaid Siddique (Vice President ICNA US) on “Dawah through Charitable Activities”
    • Respected Tariq Mirza on “Iqbal (RA) on Quran and Modern Times”
    • Quranic Recitation by Sheikh Saad Nomani

The convention is taking place at the Rosehill Gardens Racecourse, located in the Western Sydney suburb of Rosehill, New South Wales, Australia.
