Sialkot: Senior journalist Imran Riaz Khan who had been missing without a trace for over four harrowing months, has finally returned home safe and sound. The news of his safe return was confirmed by District Police Officer Sialkot, Hassan Iqbal.
Imran Riaz Khan’s ordeal began when he was apprehended just two days after the nationwide protests that erupted on 9th May. These protests followed the arrest of PTI Chairman Imran Khan. Imran Riaz Khan found himself caught up in a whirlwind of events as he was taken into custody and transferred from Cantt. Police Station to Sialkot prison.
On May 15, the Lahore High Court received word of Imran’s impending release after he provided a written undertaking. However, despite his release from jail, he remained missing for an agonizingly long period, leaving his loved ones in anguish.
Unwilling to give up the quest to locate Imran Riaz Khan, the Lahore High Court issued a final ultimatum to the Punjab police chief on September 20. They urged them to ensure Imran’s return by September 26.
In a post on the platform ‘X’, formerly known as Twitter, the Sialkot police announced, “Journalist/anchor Mr. Imran Riaz Khan has been safely recovered. He is now with his family.”

Imran Riaz Khan’s lawyer, overwhelmed with joy, shared his feelings regarding the situation. He stated that by God’s blessings, grace, and mercy, I have brought back my prince. He also disclosed the challenges they encountered throughout this lengthy ordeal, including legal system limitations and a sense of helplessness.
