Karachi: Renowned religious scholar Mufti Taqi Usmani has expressed severe displeasure over the participation of 5 Pakistani girls in the Miss Universe beauty pageant. The Miss Universe contest will be held this year in El Salvador. For this, 5 girls from Pakistan have been selected for the finals. 24-year-old Erica Robin from Karachi, 24-year-old Hira Inam from Lahore, 28-year-old Jessica Wilson from Rawalpindi, 19-year-old Pakistani-American Malika Alvi, and 26-year-old Sabrina Wasim from Punjab will compete against each other for a spot to represent Pakistan in the Miss Universe title race.
Mufti Taqi Usmani shared a post on social media platform X, writing that if it is true that 5 girls will represent Pakistan in the world beauty contest, then how low can we stoop? He demanded that the government should take notice of this news and take action against those responsible, and at least remove the impression that they represent the country.

Mufti Taqi Usmani’s post garnered both support and substantial criticism. Many questioned the selective criticism and called for addressing other important deep-rooted societal issues.
