In a statement issued, Antonio Guterres said that scientists have long warned of the potential dangers of fossil fuel dependence, and now conditions are such that every corner of the world is being affected by climate change.
He said that the world is caught in a severe heatwave, the recent hot weather was the hottest season so far. The onset of climatic disruptions has already begun.
Antonio Guterres said that the rising temperature points to the need for further action on this issue. National leaders should mobilize to solve environmental issues. There is still time to prevent the environmental crisis from taking its worst shape. He warned that “We do not have time left to waste”.
