Islamabad: The Sindh Bar Council has challenged the Army Act and Official Secrets Act in the Supreme Court.
The Sindh Bar Council has taken both laws to the Supreme Court on the basis of President Arif Alvi not having signed the Army Act and the Official Secrets Act.
In the petition, it is argued that since the President has not signed both laws, they should be declared unconstitutional. The Official Secrets Act and the Army Amendment Act are in violation of fundamental human rights.
The Sindh Bar Council has taken both laws to the Supreme Court regarding the matter of President Arif Alvi not having signed the Army Act and the Official Secrets Act.
The petition requests that the Official Secrets Act and the Army Amendment Act should be declared null and void on the grounds of not being signed by the President of the country and the cases against all suspects arrested in the events of May 9 and May 10 should be tried in regular courts.
