Govt. Should Investigate Jaranwala Incident and Bring Criminals to Justice, Says Hafiz Naeem

Karachi: Hafiz Naeem ur Rahman, the leader of Jamaat-e-Islami Karachi, has called for a thorough investigation into the incidents that occurred in Jaranwala and for the perpetrators to be brought to justice.

Hafiz Naeem ur Rahman met with Bishop Benny Mario Travas at St. Patrick’s Church to express solidarity with the Christian community in light of the tragic events in Jaranwala. During the meeting, Hafiz Na’eem ul Rahman strongly condemned the unfortunate incident and expressed sympathy with Christian leaders.

Bishop Benny Mario Travas warmly welcomed Hafiz Naeem ur Rahman and his accompanying delegation upon their arrival at St. Patrick’s Church, saying, “We are grateful to Jamaat-e-Islami for expressing their solidarity with us during this difficult time.”

Hafiz Naeem ul Rahman stated that Chief of Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan, Siraj ul Haq, has also strongly condemned the heartbreaking incident of Jaranwala, and The entire nation is deeply saddened by this tragedy, and the responsibility of the Islamic state is not just to protect Muslims but also all citizens, including minorities.

He further added that if some individuals are involved in acts of extremism, the government should play its role in bringing them to justice through its institutions and the legal system. Islam does not condone the burning of churches or the persecution of followers of other religions.

Amir Jamaat-e-Islami Karachi emphasized that in the Islamic justice system, non-Muslims are also granted equal rights. Incidents of disrespect to the Holy Quran in the West have led to reactions, but it should be clear that there is no allowance in any religion to set sacred books and places of worship on fire, and in Jamaat-e-Islami’s protest against the blasphemy of the Holy Quran the Christian Cardinal had also participated.

He concluded by mentioning that not only the Christian community but also all minority communities had condemned the desecration of the Holy Quran and the burning of religious places, emphasizing that no religion permits such actions.
