RIYADH: Renowned Saudi religious scholar Ahmad Al-Amari died days after the Kingdom authorities released him after dropping all charges against him.
Al-Amari was arrested along with one of his sons from their home during a campaign led by Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman against clerics, writers and human rights activists.

Last week, the Al-Amari’s family was told he was released and all charges against the religious scholar were dropped.
However, it was confirmed that the scholar was released after doctors confirmed he is brain dead.
According to reports, his release came after doctors declared him brain-dead. His death was caused by injecting a poisonous substance into his body by the jail authorities. The religious scholar was reportedly tortured in the prison.
He was put in solitary confinement for 5 months with no legal reason until he was very ill .. and because of which he died !

Rights group Prisoners of Conscience said they suspect Al-Amari had suffered a brain haemorrhage after the injection.
