ANKARA: A 15th century’s mosque in Turkey was taken out of the ancient town of Hasankyf and relocated by self-propelled robots.
The move comes after Turkey’s fourth biggest dam is expected to submerge the town.
The 15th century Eyyubi Mosque in Turkey’s Batman province was split into three parts before being transported to its news home by the self-propelled robots to its new home.
The walls were broken apart by construction workers, which had been held together for hundreds of years so that they could winch the pieces of the mosque onto platforms for transport.

The last part of the mosque, which was 2,500 ton, was taken out of the ancient town of Hasankeyf by the robots recently. However, the two sections had moved out earlier last year.

Pictures show the final section of the mosque being hauled in its mile-long journey by powerful robots using more than 300 wheels.
The mosque, weighted 4,600 tons, was relocated to the Hasankeyf New Cultural Park Field, a special site designated for the protected structures.
Along with the 610-year-old mosque, other cultural artefacts are being removed to the site which was created in 2017.
A colossal stone work called the Zeynel Bey Shrine was moved using similar technology last year.
