NAB official suspended over misuse of power at Saloon; FIR lodged

KARACHI: Deputy Director of National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Osaf Mir Talpur has been suspended pending an inquiry by the bureau. He was suspended on misuse of power charges at a local saloon in Gulistan e Jauhar area of Karachi.

Talpur’s wife and saloon owner Haya Ali had a dispute over a lost chain leading to Talpur and his accomplices’ assault on guard at the saloon and harassment of female employees working at Envy saloon for women. Director NAB suspended Talpur over this issue and ordered an inquiry into the matter.

Talking to The News Tribe.com representative Haya Ali had stated that “We pursued the issue in a legal manner but Police forced us into a settlement.” Haya is daughter of famous actress Shagufta Ijaz who was not present at the saloon during the incident however she was later invited by the police to lodge an FIR.

NAB spokesperson told The News Tribe.com representative that “Osaf Mir was acting in his personal capacity at the saloon and NAB has no link with the matter, he is however a NAB employee.”

An FIR has also been lodged at a local police station against Osaf Mir, his wife and other officials under section 427; tress-passing, assault and wrongful restraint under section 452, for robbery under 395, and common intention under section 34 of the Pakistan Penal Code on the complaint of saloon owners.
