KOLKATA: Man of the Match for West Indies, Marlen Samuels have dedicated his award to famous and legendary Australian leg-spinner Shane Warne, but why him? It has an interesting background.
Samuels stood up for his team when they were in utter disaster, 3 down on 11, chasing 156 against England.
He scored unbeaten 85 runs to win this match for his side, and made West Indies WT20 champion for the second time. He wa the man who did it back in 2014, and now toady.
Samuels was chosen Man of The Match for this innings and he dedicated the award to Shane Warne to settle the scores.
“I know about finals, when I come to finals, I turn up for the team. All respect to the England players, we want to move from strength to strength – this is for the Caribbean. If we get a good start, then I can step on it, we lose wickets early so it’s different. I didn’t say much other than swing and swing hard. This is for Shane Warne.”
But Why Shane Warne?
If you have a sharp memory you might remember the Big Bash moment when Shane Warne sledged Samuels that turned into a physical fight, it might have gone farther if Brad Haddin and umpires had not jumped in to handle the situation.
