36 dead in rain and flooding in northern Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: Around thirty six people have been reported dead in different parts of Pakistan including Lower Deer, Sawat and Neelam Valley, Kashmir.

Six people died in Gilgit region due to a collapsed roof, 7 died in deer area, around 10 are believed dead in Neelam Valley, one died in Shangla and Lighting struck a family claiming 7 lives in the same, individual deaths are reported from other areas as well.

Rescue teams are working to provide help to people affected by Sawat river flooding whereas tens are still stranded in the flooded areas.

Bodies of 5 children and a women were recovered in Neelam Valley where as a search for more bodies is also under way at the point of the incident.

Gilgit and Biltistan have also lost land connection with Islamabad due to heavy rains, flooding and land slidings in the region.

Next 24 hours are considered crucial in the several parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir, Gilgit and Baltistan regions.
