Government declares ‘no-selfie zone’

MUMBAI: Due to growing incidents of death because of selfie stunt, government has declared 15 sites as ‘No-Selfie Zone’.

According to the Indian media, Mumbai police have identified 15 sites across the maximum city which are dangerous to take selfies at.

These include popular tourist spots like Bandra Fort, Marine Drive, Girgaum Chowpatty beach, Bandra Bandstand, Sion Fort and Worli Fort among others.

“The police will now approach the city’s municipality to prevent accidents at such spots due to people taking selfies. The municipality may deploy life guards and install warning signs,” Mumbai police spokesperson Dhananjay Kulkarni said.

The decision was taken after a teenager drowned in the sea last week while trying to take a selfie and another died while attempting to save her. Maharashtra Police had imposed a similar ‘no selfie zone’ during the Kumbh Mela last year due to the fear of stampede.

It is definitely a bad news for you if you live in Mumbai and loves clicking selfies with your buddies while you hangout.
