Chris Gayle fined $10,000 over controversial remarks

MELBOURNE: World famous West Indian Opener Chris Gayle has caught himself into a controversy after his remarks on Live TV coverage for sports presenter Mel McLaughlin during the Big Bash League encounter, The News Tribe.com learnt from International Media.

 Chris Gayle’s team in Big Bash League ‘The Melbourne Renegades’ on Tuesday has announced Gayle had been slapped with the fine of $10,00 but would not be suspended from playing.

The money from Gayle’s fine will be donated to the McGrath Foundation in recognition of Jane McGrath Day at the Sydney Cricket Ground today.

Earlier today Jamaican star apologized for what he said lat night, he was of the opinion that

“I said a joke on the air, and it went out of proportion, I never meant to be disrespectful to Mel,” the West Indies player told reporters at Melbourne Airport this morning.

“A lot of things have flared up from a simple comment, a joke, a simple joke on air and it seemed to went out of proportion,” Gayle said.

Yesterday night Chris Gayle hit 41 runs off just 15 balls and when he reached the dug out, a sports presenter came to interview him where Gayle said “Hopefully we can win this game, and have a drink after. Don’t blush, baby,” a laughing Gayle said.
