ISLAMABAD: Minister for Finance Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar said that the government in consultation with business community had finalized a comprehensive scheme for non-filers, in order to encourage them come into tax net and play their role for economic prosperity of the country.
“The government in consultation with traders community and tax administration has finalized a comprehensive scheme for non-filers which would be announced in a couple of days after the approval of the Prime Minister for its execution and implementation to bring the non-filers of the tax into tax net and enable them to play their vital role for the economic development and prosperity of the country,” Dar told media after meeting with the representatives of the business community here at Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) Headquarters.
He expressed the hope that the scheme would be appreciated by the business community and non-filers alike and they would file their returns as tax payers in the best national interest.
Ishaq Dar said that tax payers who were not coming into tax net due to the fear of tax authority would now file their returns and the tax to GDP ratio would increase due to the scheme.
The minister also appreciated the role and efforts of Haroon Akhtar Khan Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Revenues, representatives of the traders and the FBR authorities for their efforts in finalizing the scheme for the non-filers.
Raja Muhammad Amin Chairman All Pakistan Anjuman-e-Tajiran, its President Ajmal Baloch and its General Secretary Muhammad Naeem Mir General Secretary in their remarks appreciated Finance Minister Muhammad Ishaq Dar and his team for resolving their problems relating to withholding tax and simplifying the tax procedures which led to the finalization of a scheme for non-filers to file their returns.
They said that trader’s community wanted to file their returns and pay their due taxes if they were facilitated in filing their tax returns.
They called upon the non-filers to take optimum benefit of the scheme being offered to them by the government and pay their due taxes for the socio economic development of the country.
They also expressed satisfaction over the new scheme for non-filers. –APP
