KARACHI: Owner of Quetta franchise in the Pakistan Super League (PSL), Nadeem Omar expressed wish to sign up seasoned all-rounder Shahid Afridi as the first choice player for his team.
“Explosive abilities of Shahid Afridi that could pull in the crowds in great numbers anywhere around the world. So I have no doubt in my mind that he will be the first player our Quetta team will be looking to sign up for our PSL campaign,” Nadeem Omar said.
On the other hand, rumours circulation in media that Shahid Afridi will lead the Peshawar team in opening edition of PSL as he belonged to KP and owner of the franchise Javed Afridi is was considered as his good friend.
Earlier, the Peshawar franchise of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) – to be called Peshawar Zalmi – will be dedicated to the children and teachers of the Army Public School (APS) who embraced martyredom in the brutal attack of Taliban on December 16,2014.
“Whatever we win will be dedicated to the martyrs of APS. This is our cause, the city’s cause, KPK’s cause,” franchise owner Javed Afridi, CEO of Haier Home Appliances, said.
“Zalmi, meaning youth, is just not a cricket team,” he said after unveiling the team logo at the premises of APS, an institution he is an alumnus of. “They are ambassadors of our frontiers, exponents of our sportsman spirit that lies in the hearts of every Pakistani.”
