DHAKA: Boom Boom Afridi proved once again that why he is so much wanted and adored across the world, as he sailed Sylhet Super Star’s boat to home with two back to back sixes in last over to win the do or die match for his team by six wickets against Dhaka Dynamites.
Sylhet chose to field after winning the toss, thought they bowled superbly but failed to contain Sangakkara XI in last five overs and leaked 58 runs in last 25 balls.
Dhaka skipper Kumar Sangakkara and Bangladesh all-rounder Nasir Hussain rebuilt the inning after earl loses, and brought their team to a respectable total of 157/5 after a very slow pace of innings.
Sanga returned to pavilion in last with 48 of 58 balls.
Abur Razzak was pick of the bowler from Super Stars, he bowled overs for 9 runs and took 2 key wickets.
Super Stars in response were right on target as they reached to 122 in just 14th over with the lose two wickets.
Mustafizur Raheem’s brilliant spell put breaks on Sylhet batsmen and the match turned to 180 degree angle as he completed his spell of four overs for just 14 runs.
Things were hanging in balance as Super Stars needed 10 of the last overs and Afridi on strike.
Farhad Reza bowled first three balls very brilliantly with two runs and a wicket of set batsman.
The next two balls were faced by Afridi and both collected by ball-boy out of the ground, winning the game for his team by 6 wickets.
With this win, Sylhet’s chances have gone brighten once again, if Dhaka lose its next and Super Stars win there’s… they will be through to semi-finals.
