COLOMBO: Sri Lankan Cricket Board on Monday recalled opening batsman and wicket-keeper Kusal Perera from New Zealand as his test result came positive.
According to test result, Kusal Perera was using banned steroid.
Sri Lanka Cricket revealed in a statement that opening batsman was randomly tested during the recent Pakistan tour of Sri Lanka and the just released results were positive.
International Cricket Council can impose ban on Sri Lankan player according to ant-doping regulations.
“In view of this and in terms of the applicable ICC regulations, SLC has recalled Perera from New Zealand,” the board said, adding that they would test a “B” sample in line with anti-doping regulations.
Kusal Perera was start performer in series against Pakistan.
