RAWALPINDI: Today Mark Siegel, a key witness in the former Prime Minister of Pakistan Benazir Bhutto murder case, will record his statement in the Rawalpindi Commissioner Office through a video link from Washington, America.
According to details, the statement will be recorded in presence of a judicial officer at Pakistan’s embassy in Washington.
Seigel, a friend of late prime minister Benazir Bhutto, earlier cited security reasons for his refusal to appear in person to record a statement against former military ruler Pervez Musharraf in the Benazir assassination case.
He had claimed that the then president of Pakistan Musharraf gave threats to Benazir Bhutto before she returned to Pakistan in October 2007.
Two months later, 54-year-old Bhutto was murdered in a suicide attack outside Rawalpindi on December 27, 2007.
In August 2013, Musharraf was indulged in the murder case. He was charged with murder, criminal conspiracy for murder and support for murder.
Musharraf denied all the charges and blamed Baitullah Mehsud, the then leader of the Tehreek-e-Taliban.
