According to his father, Guptil lost his finger in the age of 14 courtesy truck accident. This is the reason he earned the nickname “Two Toes.”
His father revealed that after this accident Guptil’s will power became double and he really work hard to become a good cricket and he achieved his set goal.
Guptil’s father told that when he {Martin Guptil} was hit by a truck, that was the toughest period for New Zealand’s player.
