Punjab government fails to reverse internet taxes

LAHORE – Punjab government still failed to issue the notification for reversal of 19.5% internet sales taxes.

Chief Minister of Punjab Shahbaz Sharif announced the reversal of 19.5% internet sales tax in Punjab but official notification has still not been issued by the ministry.

Internet tax was imposed by the government on May 28, 2015.  Month a go, Punjab government released press release about the  reversal of 19.5% internet sales taxes.

“We don’t want to speculate, but it seems that bureaucracy is beyond the control of CM or maybe this was just a planned political statement with PRA on-board to gain some political mileage”, said an official of mobile phone company .
