IPL spot-fixing: Trial court clears Sreesanth, Chavan and Chandila

NEW DELHI: Charges against Sreesanth, Ankeet Chavan and Ajit Chandila, who had been chargesheeted for the IPL 2013 corruption scandal, have been dropped. The decision was taken by a trial court in Delhi on Saturday.

The Rajasthan Royals trio had been arrested by Delhi Police in May 2013 for allegedly indulging in spot-fixing.

While the charge sheet against the cricketers was filed in July 2013, the charges had not been framed in the court due to technical reasons. The BCCI has already handed life bans to Sreesanth and Chavan.

“I am thankful to God, I want to start training again and hopefully should get BCCI’s permission too. S Sreesanth said.”
