Pakistan sets several new records in third test aginst Sri Lanka

Pallekele – Pakistan beat Sri Lanka in the third and final Test match of the series between Pakistan and Sri Lanka and this historic win turns into “record bucket”.

Pakistan team beat host team by seven wickets and snatched a historic win courtesy Legendary batsman Younis Khan and Shan Masood. Younis Khan was unbeaten on 171 runs while skipper Misbah ul Haq remained not out on  59 runs.

Young opening batsman, Shan Masood, scored 125 runs to set the tone of Pakistan to chase down record total of 377 runs.

This is the highest total ever chased on Sri Lankan soil in the history of cricket. Younis Khan and left handed stylish opener, Shan Masood put record 242 runs partnership and set a new record of highest fourth wicket partnership for Pakistan.

Shan Masood who was dropped for Test series against Bangladesh, proved his selection right and scored a well-crafted, mature ton at the time when Pakistan were two down for just 13 runs, chasing a mammoth target of 377.

Pakistan’s young opener Shan Masood also completed his first Test century in the fourth innings of final Test match against Sri Lanka.

Pakistan’s legendary cricketer and star performer Younis Khan has booked another record to his name in the second innings of the final Test against Sri Lanka.

Younis became world’s first batsman to score 5 centuries in the second innings of the Test match when he completed his 30th century in fourth innings of the decisive Test.

Younus Khan was declared man of the match for his superb match winning innings, while Yasir Shah was declared best player of the series for his brilliant bowling throughout the series.

After this historic win, Pakistan jumped three places and reched to 3rd position in the ICC test ranking table following a record seven wicket victory over Sri Lanka in the third and final test in Pallekele on Tuesday.

Pakistan had entered the series in sixth position on 97 points, one ahead of Sri Lanka. The 2-1 series win has earned it four rating points and Pakistan jumped to number three position with 101 points.

Pakistan now trail 2nd ranked Australia by 10 points and lead 4th ranked New Zealand by two points.
