Open violation of ECP’s code of conduct in Capital

ISLAMABAD – Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) codes of conduct are openly violated by the candidates contesting for first ever local government elections in Islamabad.

Sources said that Rana Ashfaq, candidate for Chairmanship from Union Council 69,I-10/2 had pasted huge size banners and posters on different buildings and market areas, adding that the size of the posters were ten times bigger than the notified size of ECP.

Furthermore, Chaudhary Jamil, another candidate for Chairmanship from the same UC had even crossed the limits by publishing pictures of Nawaz Sharif and Shahbaz Sharif to gain sympathies of the voters, said sources.

The ECP code of conduct categorically stated that the contesting candidates could not publish the pictures of their leaders such as Nawaz Sharif, Imran Khan  or anyone else, as the upcoming elections were not party based.

According to the sources, one of the rival candidate has also submitted a written complain to the ECP against the violator of the code of conduct devised for LB polls in Islamabad.
