PM directs to mobilize all resources to rescue passengers of Special Train incident

GUJRANWALA – Prime Minister of Pakistan, Nawaz Sharif, showed his concerns over Gujranwala Special Train incident on Thursday, Thenewstribe.com reported.

Nawaz Sharif issued the instructions to relative departments to mobilize all resources to rescue passengers of Gujranwala train incident. He also gave instructions to provide best medical facilities to injured passengers.

Major General Asim Bhajwa said that 80 passengers were rescued from the canal. He also confirmed the incident and posted a message on social networking website.

In his message he said that “4 bogies of special train carrying mil troops to Kharian fell over bridge near Jamke Chattha in Canal. Rescue underway.Casualties expected.”

Earlier, three bogies of train which was carrying 300 passengers fell into a canal on Thursday near Wazirabad in Gujranwala.

According to initial reports, seven people were killed and several injured in this unfortunate incident.

Media sources revealed a section of the Head Chanawa bridge collapsed while the train was passing by the area. The train was on route from Punno Akal to Khariya Cantt in Gujrat.

A relief train from Lahore has been dispatched on the orders of Divisional Superintendent Pakistan Railways, which is carrying medical, mechanical as well as technical staff.
