ISLAMABAD – In the Sri Lanka tour team Pakistan is under double pressing, as the guest team need to win the One Day International (ODI) series against host by 3-2 to keep their hopes alive for Champions Trophy 2017.
Pakistan team is on tour of Sri Lanka, where Pakistan team will play three test matches, five One Day Internationals (ODIs) and two Twenty20 matches.
This tour has gain more importance for Pakistan because it is the last chance for green shirts to get ticket for  International Cricket Council (ICC) Champions Trophy, 2017.
Pakistan tour to Sri Lanka became more important as Bangladesh team grabbed two back to back victories against India and took seventh in ICC ODI team ranking with 2804 points.
Before this series, Bangladesh team white washed Pakistan in ODI series, and it was done for the first time in the history of Pakistan cricket.
After this win Bangladesh team has more chances to qualify for ICC Champions trophy for the first time in the history of cricket.
On the other hand West Indies team is also placed on the top of Pakistan team in ICC team ranking. West Indies team took eighth position with 3094 points.
So, now there is tough fight between Bangladesh, West Indies and Pakistan to qualify for second biggest event of ICC after Cricket World Cup.
Pakistan team just manage to took ninth placed that is worst ever position of Pakistan cricket team in ICC ODI team rankings.
According to rules of ICC, rating will improve after win over strong team and according to this rule if Pakistan team beat Sri Lanka in ODI series by 3-2 then Pakistan will qualify for ICC Champions Trophy, 2017.
Sri Lanka is placed on fifth position on the table of ICC Â ODI team rankings. So, ratings of Pakistan team will boost quickly.
Pakistan team already get a winning start in Sri Lanka. Pakistan team beat host team by 10 wickets in first test of three match series.
But there is a lot of difference between test team and ODI team including captains.
